1972 Norton Combat Commando Roadster

Updated 10/22/2012

1972 Norton Combat Commando Roadster 750 3,300 Original Miles $8,500 OBO

This is an exceptional, un-restored Commando Combat Roadster that has been lovingly owned by a series of collectors and seen very little time on the road. Its first owner had it from new until 2004. At a little over 1000 miles he had the original main bearings replaced with the factory recommended Superblend bearings before any damage was done.

Some outstanding features are;

Original FireFlake Bronze fiberglass tank and side covers in excellent condition. The tank is stored dry and has been treated with eathonol resistant aircraft grade sealent. There is no evidence of delamination.

Oil Pressure guage replaces amp guage in headlight shell.

Braded Stainless Steel oil lines.

Drilled brake rotor, first year for disk brake.

Borini Alloy Wheels.

Spin On Oil Filter

Original Seat with Fiberglass Pan in excellent condition.

Frame, engine and gearbox numbers match.

Chromed engine subframe, carburetor bowls and valve adjust covers on the head.

Oil tanks mounting brackets have been reinforced

Koni rear shocks

This Commando starts and runs fine with no smoke or odd mechanical sounds. In fact it sounds like a great, low mileage engine. This is a high compression motor and takes a firm boot to start. The chrome on the fenders is OK but shows a few bubbles, and one small area on the rear fender has been painted. I have available separately a very good front fender and rear fender from a later model. The exhaust pipes are very good, the right muffler shows one small bit of rust on the bottom. The portion of the frame that supports the rear fender appears to have been touched up. There is no side stand. These are really the only flaws in an unrestored 40 year old machine. It has recently had the oil changed and been completely tuned up. It starts fine, idles well and goes fast.

It has been stored in a heated indoor location as part of a collection.

Maine does not issue titles on old vehicles. I will supply a Bill Of Sale. Please check with your local DMV regarding your state title and registration laws.

Buyer will be responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. I will store the motorcycle at no charge for one month after completion of the auction, after which I will charge a storage fee. I have had good results with www.keyboardmotorcycleshipping.com Everyone really seems pleased with them. The motorcycle does not ship until I have cleared funds in my bank account.
